Changes to Immigration and Asylum Accreditation

Changes to Immigration and Asylum Accreditation

Starting 1 September 2018, a revised UK Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme will take effect. This is to coincide with the commencement of the new Legal Aid Contracts offered by the Legal Aid Agency under the 2018 Standard Civil Contract. There will be notable changes to terminology, the time that members can remain at each stage of accreditation and the work they can perform during that time.

From a legal recruitment perspective, law firm Managing Partners and Hiring Managers need to be aware that designations and role scopes will change. From a business development/marketing perspective, firms may also wish to update websites, brochures, or any other materials which refer to such re-designated staff. Below are key facts to note.
